Mountain #15 - Feldberg

Early breakfast at 6.40 in Todtnau after 400 vertical meters down. Climbing up Feldberg, ständig tall at nearly 1500m. Passing through tourist magnets in Hochschwarzwald. Next sight: source of the Danube in Donaueschingen and source of the Aach a bit later. Camping in Wahlwies not to far from Lake Constance. 

Materialschlacht - Schauinsland

Same tyre back in 2014 (Scotland) - a Conti Tour, and always ridden with high pressure, but the side wall got weak close to the rim and I made it to a bikeshop in Lahr at 8am to get a new tyre.  Freiburg for lunchtime, visiting 2 MPIs there and after some Skyr from ALDI up the Schauinsland road with views ins Land and the goal for next morning: Feldberg.

Strasbourg

Long day (180km), via St Wendels Basilika, Rose Garden of Zweibrücken, Zitadelle of Bitsch and late on the day the Canal de la Marne au Rhine. Near the finish line: European Parliament. Stay in a camp site in Kehl that I have been in the past 4 times.

Mountain #13 - Erbeskopf / Mountain #14 - Dollberg

Double feature again today, Erbeskopf and Dollberg. First along the river Nahe and the climb was quite slow. Erbeskopf can be done by bike, there is a military post up there, and a road to the top, Dollberg is better done walking the last 1000m. Due to the Lack of suitable campsites for many miles,  I stayed after 117km at Bostalsee for a swim. 700km left and two mountains - Feldberg and Zugspitze.

Elvis, Mainz and a thunderstorm

Early on the road. Bad Nauheim is not only famous for their clinics, but Elvis (originally from Kolbermoor) was staying with the US army in Bad Nauheim. I visited MPI's there, in Frankfurt (2) and Mainz (2) to see the working conditions for colleagues. Mainz a little sightseeing downtown and to the west to Bad Kreuznach, where I camp next to a river a bit south in Bad Münster. At about 7 pm a very strong wind, rain, thunderstorm came up, lasted only 15 min but ruined many outdoor BBQs of my neighbors.

Mountbatten, Marburg, Gießen

Slow start this morning (9 am)  had to return the key for the showers this morning. Some coffee (not English breakfast tea in Battenberg, origin of some family in England). Strolling through the small university cities Marburg and Gießen ( e.g. Mathematicum) and relaxing at the swimming pool next door to the campsite. Watched a soccer game later on and had to say good bye to an empty sun cream from NZ bought in 2011...  

Mountain #12 - Langenberg

Via Fritzlar and on an old train route turned to a cycle way to Korbach. Annoying uphill in the heat to Willingen. Through some forest and quite steep to mountain #12 Langenberg. 10km or a bit more to a camp site in famous Winterberg.
